1) A binary transmission system uses a 8-bit word encoding system. Find the Bandwidth and the SNR dB of the system if the channel capacity is 19200 bps. (Assume the bandwidth of the channel to be the same as the noise-free channel).

2) Calculate the distance to the optical and radio electrical horizon of an antenna located at a height of 100 metres above the ground. If a second antenna with a height of 50 metres is the receptor, find the maximum distance between the antennas (radio electric horizon). Assume K=4/3.

3) Calculate the gain of a half wave dipole antenna designed for an optimal frequency of 32MHz. Calculate the length of the antenna

4) Calculate the area of a parabolic antenna with a gain of 35 dB working at 25 GHz.

5) If the antenna of Problem 4 is used to transmit to another antenna (gain of 27 dB) calculate the free-space loss if they are located 58Km apart.

6)A Microwave transmitter has an output of 500 mW at 10 GHz. The transmitter is used in a microwave communications system where the antennas are parabolas each of 0.8 m in diameter: Find the gain of the antennas in dB

Taking the antenna gain into account, find the free-space loss in dB between antennas if the distance between them is 20 Km.

Find the transmitted power in dBm. Find the distance between the antennas if the signal power on the receiving antenna is -42 dBm
