3  Calculate amount needed to make  May need to account for loss  Prepare compound using appropriate techniques and equipment  Dispense compounds in container  B ottle, jar, syringe, etc.  Attach label with important auxiliary labels  Record procedure for future preparations

5  Counseling of compound should include:  Storage requirements  Patient education for active ingredients in compound  Emphasis on other special instructions ▪ Shake well ▪ Refrigerate ▪ Expiration date

8  Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)  Read labels  Safety equipment  Protective eyewear/masks –optional  Gloves  Wash hands before leaving work area  Closed toe shoes  Head and facial hair out of the way (tied up)

9  Disposal of chemicals  In labeled waste baskets  May not be removed from PPC  No eating or drinking in work area  Let staff/faculty know if there are allergy concerns with preparations
