1 Microsoft Project – Tutorial 6 Working with Excel as Microsoft Project uses many sheets for entering and working with data, it is fairly easy to import and export information to and from Excel open the file TrainingLab-6 and save as usual right-click Select All and choose Cost click the Show button on the Formatting Toolbar and select Outline Level 1 click Select All and copy open a file in Microsoft Excel and paste the data into it

2 Microsoft Project – Tutorial 6 Graphing with Excel select cells A2 through A4; E2 through E4 and G2 through G4 Go the Insert tab and insert a chart of some type Go to the Design tab for the chart and click Select Data give Series 1 the name Baseline and Series 2 the name Actual give the chart the title “Lab Costs Ran High” (Layout > Chart Title) Save the file if you want

3 Microsoft Project – Tutorial 6 Exporting to Excel In Project, select the Data you want to Export Go to Tools > Options > Security Tab and “Allow loading files with legacy or non default file formats” File > Save As notice the many file types that you can Save As if Saving As an Excel Worksheet gives you trouble, try saving in tab or comma delimited formats (ex..csv) follow the wizard and choose the fields you want to include

4 Microsoft Project – Tutorial 6 Importing from Excel in Project File > Open notice the many file types that you can Open choose Excel or All Files open New Resources and follow the wizard Map the sheet to the correct fields
