3 CENTURY 21 ACCOUNTING © Thomson/South-Western 3 LESSON 12-1 ANALYZING A PAYROLL TIME CARD page 341  A payroll system must include an accurate record of the time each employee has worked  One of the more frequently used methods is a time card  Some time cards may be manual while others are completed by a time clock  The 1 st task in preparing a payroll is to calculate the number of hours worked by each employee  Overtime is paid to any employee who works more than 8 hours in one day
