 Can you believe it?  Do you feel any of the following:  Accomplishment  Pride  Relief

 Has this class changed your mind about your career choice?

 In Lesson 103, you begin by creating a memo.  There are four basic parts to a memo.

 Subject line: tells the reader what the memo is about.  First paragraph: tells the reader the purpose of the memo.  Second paragraph: provides the details of the memo.  Third paragraph: generally explains the future action or a requests future action.

On page 409, you will create a Letterhead form. This exercise will have you create and insert two textboxes. Question: How do you insert a textbox in Word, either 2003 or 2007?

 From the Home Ribbon, click on the Insert tab  On the Insert tab, click on the Text box button, found in the Text group.

 On the Text box drop down menu that appears, click on the Draw Text Box button.  Draw the textbox on the screen (it will appear as a dashline, while you are drawing.)

 To change the textbox style, double-click the textbox and a Textbox Tools menu will appear.  Select the Textbox Style that you would like.

 In Microsoft Office Applications, you will see mention of Live Preview.  When you are working with Textbox styles, what does the Live Preview option offer you?

 Live Preview is a “try before you buy” option.  In the case of a textbox, Live Preview allows you to “hover” over a Textbox Style, and see what your textbox would look like with that style.

 On page 409, you will create a Letterhead Form, using a picture that you have related to school or school work.  Question: On Step 7, you have to change the font to Calibri, small caps.  Where do you set the font to small caps in Word 2007 or 2003?

To set the font as small caps:  Select the font you would like to change, and then right click.  On the pop-up menu that displays, choose Font.  On the Font menu, click the Small Caps checkbox  Click OK

 In Lesson 104, you will create a notepad.  Let’s look at the illustration on page 414.  Follow the directions, step by step.  Note: Many inkject printers will not print beyond the bottom half inch on a sheet of paper. Keep this in mind when you are designing the form.

 On both forms, you will need to format the text as it appears around the picture.  Select the picture, and right click on it.  Select Text Wrapping  Click to Select the Front of Text option.

 In Lesson 105, you will create two different types of forms:  Directory Form  Sign In Form  You will also create a Memo Template.  Question, how do you set row height?

 Right click the table, and select Table Properties.  On the Row tab, check the Specify height check box, and enter the desired height.  You can also use the arrows to set the height.  Click OK

 In Week 9, you have the following assignments:  Timed Typing: Lesson 106, Exercise D, pg. 423  Proofreading: Exercise 105-14, pg 420.  Accuracy Check: Supplementary Timed Writing, S2, page SB-29.  Discussion Posts

 The Final exam will consist of:  You will identify errors in a document, and answer questions about different types of documents that you have created this term.  Question types include: ▪ Fill in the blank, consisting of various rules for documents (including table, letters and etc.) ▪ Multiple choice questions from the past 8 weeks of reading.

YOU WILL HAVE TWO FINAL EXAMS IN THIS COURSE: Document Processing Assessment Final Timed Typing

 You will access the Document Processing Assessement in Unit 10.  Remember your rules for all the documents you have worked on this past session.

For example:  You identify errors in a sentence/paragraph  Question types include:  Fill in the blank ▪ Consisting of various rules for documents you have created. For example; tables, letters, etc.. ▪ Not creating, answering questions.  Multiple Choice ▪ Questions taken from the last 8 weeks of reading.

 You will have 3 hours to complete your exam.  Do not leave any answers blank, and if the answer consists of a number, please spell out the number (ex:2 should be Two).  Only enter the answer, do not explain your answer.  If you do this, your answer could be counted incorrect.

Reminders:  You will only be able to enter your online Document Processing Assessment one time.  If you lose your internet connection during your test, logon again and try to access your Document Processing Assessment.  If you are unable to enter the Document Processing Assessment, contact me ASAP.  You will always be able to see the time remaining in the Document Processing Assessment at the top right of the page

Don’t forget:  When you are finished with the Document Processing Assessment, click on the "Submit for Grade" button  Please note: Once you click the "Submit for Grade" button, you will NOT be able to edit or change any of your answers  Some other items to take note of…

Because the test is a multi-page test:  Make sure you click the "Save Answers" button before advancing to the next page  I suggest clicking it often throughout the test  You cannot use the browser’s Forward and Back buttons during the test.

 One More Thing…… I do not grade the exam, the system grades it.  I will, however, assign the final Timed Typing points.  I hope this helps. I wish everyone the best of luck!!!

 Please remember to complete at least two five minute timed typings on Timed Typing T6, found in Skills Assessment 6, page 490.  Follow the directions as printed.  Upload all attempts to GDP.  I can only accept Timed Typings that are uploaded during the week of finals, May 26 through June 2.  You can view your grades on June 8.

 Questions?  If not…

 I have really enjoyed our seminar times… but it is time to bid them adieu!  Although seminar is ending, you still have work to do before your final tests!  Keep practicing!  Don’t forget the Discussion Posts!
