Lots of trees No buffalo Buffalo would not live in a forest so neither would the Indians The image suggests harmony between the Indians and the homesteaders. Would the creator of this card know a lot about the West? Would they have lived there? What is useful about this source?

6 Question 9c Why was this poster published at that time? Use the source and your knowledge to explain your answer. MESSAGE PURPOSE To form a colony/militia/go to Kansas To encourage people to move West/Manifest Destiny You didn’t get marks for saying it was encouraging people to escape slavery as the slaves had been freed before this poster was made. This poster is encouraging ex-slaves to move West and start a new life on cheap land. PURPOSE (7) Think about the provenance (who created the poster? when? and why?
