2 Yay! Good morning Class 4. Today we are going to learn about speech marks. “Good morning Class 4. Today we are going to learn about speech marks,” Mrs Price said. “Yay!” Class 4 exclaimed.

3 WOW ! One really good way to start is by using a comic strip and speech bubbles. “One really good way to start is by using a comic strip and speech bubbles,” Mrs Price went on. 11 On our next slide there are a series of pictures. Click the `Picture’ button to reveal the photo. Talk to your partner and decide what the characters are saying to each other, record it in the speech bubbles on your sheet, and try to write how it would look if it weren’t in speech bubbles but part of a narrative. Remember the punctuation goes inside the speech marks. Then your teacher will choose some of these to try out. Click on each speech bubble in turn, enter your text, and it will appear as it would as a narrative. Then, click and drag your punctuation.

13 Teacher Notes To set up the Powerpoint so that the speech bubble activity on slide 11 works Go to Tools menu, click on Macro, click on Security, click the medium security box (circle thingy) Exit Powerpoint altogether and re-open it.
