One day, a long line of train cars needed to be hauled over a steep mountain. These cars were carrying dolls, animals, toys, and gifts for children all across the world for Christmas.

All of the large trains at the station refused to take the load and challenge the hill because no one thought they could reach the top during the winter. The little engine was not intimidated, and offered to take the cars over the hill gladly.

So with great confidence, the little engine set off to conquer the hill that others did not dare. The closer he came to the hill the slower he became, and he began to huff and puff and repeat: I Think I Can.

With great desperation he huffed and puffed harder and harder continuing up the hill. His wheels lost more and more grip as he moved forward. I-Think-I-Can, I-Think-I-Can, he repeated over and over as he chugged the cars all the way up the steep slope.

He was so close to the crest now, still huffing and puffing, just about to pass over the top of the hill and continue the route. Everyone watched and waited, as the little engine got slower and slipped more and more, no one knew what to expect. Ending #1Ending #2

The little engine heaved the heavy load over the top of the hill and raced down the slope, continuing the route. All the way down he repeated, I Knew I Could, I Knew I Could. Moral: Always try your best, and never give up on anything. The End

The little engine pulled with all his might, but the load was too great. The train cars pulled him back over the hill, and the train slid all the way back to the station, all the way he repeated: I Thought I Could, I Thought I Could. Moral: Its better to try and fail, than to never try at all. The End The End

The End! The Little Engine That Could Retold By: Craig Donnelly Original By: Watty Piper Return To End Selection
