3 Graduation Requirements—23 credits  4 English  4 Social Studies  4 Science  4 Math (Alg 2)  Health  Financial Literature  ½ credit PE  1 Business Elective or Foreign Language or Fine Art *End of Course Exams, ACT, Career Tech Assessment Transcripts start to count towards future

4 Freshmen Requirements Language Arts 9* Math* Physical Science* American History* PE and/or Financial Literacy & Health* Elective Credits *Required courses must be passed or repeated

5 Curriculum Guide  What is a credit?  How do I earn credits?  What is a pre-requisite?  Course descriptions  Honors Diplomas

6 Study Halls Students will be able to schedule one period of study hall per semester Study hall is NOT required but encouraged for 9 th grade year Be aware that the transition to high school is sometimes a tough one. With the added extracurriculars, study hall could help.

7 Extra Curricular Activities There are many extra curricular activities:  Key Club  Foreign Language Club  Girls of Green  Student Council  Fellowship of Christian Students  Chain Reaction  Do Something Club  Many more….

8 Coming Up with a Plan It is highly recommended that you make a 4 year plan. It is good to figure out where you want to end up and that will tell you where to begin. NAVIANCE program to help with this

9 PE, Health, & Financial Literacy PE Waiver- Students may be excused from the PE requirement by participating in:  2 years of ROTC or  2 full seasons of sports/band If you choose the PE Waiver, you will take Health and Financial Literacy your 9 th grade year

10 Athletics To be eligible for fall sports, you must be passing 5 classes at the end of the 4 th quarter of your 8 th grade year

11 Data Driven 3165  3.1 cumulative GPA end of 9 th grade  Earned 6.5 credits by end of 9 th grade 21 & Above ACT  Remediation free 3 E’s  Employed, Enrolled, Enlisted

12 Timeline Today – Overview of high school, receive Scheduling Worksheets and answer questions February 22 nd -Turn in Scheduling Worksheets to homeroom teacher February 24 th, 25 th & 26 th – One-on-one enter schedule with HS counselors April & May - HS counselors will be back down to answer any questions

15 Schedule Change Policy Mid May: a list of classes is sent home in the mail for one final examination Last day to request a schedule change is the last day of school, June 3 rd  The request must be submitted prior to this date BUT the change may happen in the summer. See page 5 in the Curriculum Guide or the GHS Student Services website for details
