1 R. Henderson 9/30/07 Lesson # 102 1 Introduction to the Identification Truths Rom. 5:19-21 17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more (those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness) will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. 18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. 2 R. Henderson 9/30/07 Lesson # 102 2 19 For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. 20 The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 4 R. Henderson 9/30/07 Lesson # 102 4 Believers Identification Truths Rom. 6:1-10 1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?

5 R. Henderson 9/30/07 Lesson # 102 5 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;

6 R. Henderson 9/30/07 Lesson # 102 6 7 for he who has died is freed from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

7 R. Henderson 9/30/07 Lesson # 102 7 Baptized / Immersed (placed in union) into the person of Christ Baptized / Immersed (Identification) into the work of Christ into His death – He died, We died into His burial – He was buried, we were buried into His resurrection – He was raised, we were raised We have newness of life (new in quality) we have Christ life Our old man was crucified (put to death) we are separated from our old man Our old man and body of sin is rendered inoperative /put in idle/taken off line or out of gear We are free from our sin nature We need not be a slave to our sin nature We are free to live with Christ – moment by moment Summary Romans 6:1-10 * * Hal Molloy Feb. 1995
