7 Exposition  Everything the audience needs to know to understand the play.  Exposition refers to a setting such as the background setting used to convey information according to script or gives the audience feel of the play.  Example: We started with the major completion of Red Riding Hood with items for Granny and to remind him to be aware of Wolf. 8 Conflict  Conflicts happen when the opposition of persons or forces raises the dramatic action.  Example: Wolf planned a trick and violence to eat Red Riding Hood and Granny. Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA Rembau

9 Complication  From the conflict, the next stage is complication or crises that indicate unstable or crucial time of affair in which a decisive changes in impending.  Example: Wolf went to Granny’s hut and ate her. Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA Rembau

10 Complication  This stage is a further difficulty from previous stage.  Example: Wolf pretends as Granny and waiting Red Riding Hood arrival. Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA Rembau

11 Climax  The point at which one or the other of the forces is favored, the point at which events must turn in one direction or another. Not necessarily the "high point".  The point of highest dramatic tension of major turning point in the action.  Example: When Red Riding Hood arrived at Granny’s hut, Wolf is ready to eat her. 12 Resolution  Resolution is a final clarification of what happens, as a result of the climax, such as something or some problem is resolved.  Example: The woodcutter appeared to rescue Red Riding Hood. As a result, everybody is happy except Wolf. Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA Rembau

13  Character is a people that act in the story.  It is also used as one of a medium to convey the story besides the situation, theme and background.  We can exploit the story by the character’s belief, physical need, physical capabilities, relationship, personality, background and behavior. 14 Example:  Story: Pak Tam’s Secret  Character’s Name: Pak Tam  Character’s background: Responsible as the head of the Mawar village, has a wife, Senah and three children; Hamid, Zaitun and Zaman.  Character’s behavior: kind-hearted, wise, always helps people who’s in trouble, likes to smile, gets the trustworthy from the villagers.  Character exploitation: When the problem occurred in the village, Pak Tam will wisely solve the problem. 15 Protagonist  Often use to refer to the lead character Antagonist  Often the bad guy, but could be anyone or thing that struggles against the protagonist. Counterpart/Foil  A foil is any character (usually the antagonist or an important supporting character) whose personal qualities contrast with another character (usually the protagonist). 16 Stock Character  Stock characters are those types of characters who have become conventional or stereotypical through repeated use in particular types of stories.
