2 Wood+Wind = Woodwinds Woodwind instruments don't all have to be made of wood! Some are, like clarinets, oboes, English horns, and bassoons. But others, like the flute and saxophone, are metal. And in ancient times, woodwind instruments were sometimes carved from reeds, ivory, animal horns, or even from bone. Today, woodwinds can even be made from high-quality plastics.

3 Most Woodwinds Need REEDS
Single Reeds 1 piece of wood used to create sound with instruments (clarinets and saxophones) Double Reeds 2 pieces of wood tied together , used to create sound with instruments (oboes and bassoons)
