2. John 17 The Great High Priestly Prayer of our Lord!

3. John 17:6-19 John 17:17 The Mechanics of the Disciples’ Protection - Sanctification.

4. John 17:17, “Sanctify them in the sphere of Your Truth; Your Word (Bible Doctrine) is Truth.”

5. Principles of Sanctification: (+S)

6. Positional Phase One (salvation) Ultimate Christian’s Life Phase Three Death or Rapture Experiential Phase Two

7. b. Phase 2, Experiential +S: 1) It is our daily walk with Christ, being filled with the Holy Spirit, 1 John 1:5-9.

8. 2) It is accomplished when we: a) Utilize 1 John 1:9; b) Have the filling of God the Holy Spirit, c) Take in the Word of God on a consistent basis; d) Produce experiential / spiritual righteousness.

9. 3) It depends upon; a) Some degree of yieldedness to God. b) Some degree of separation from sin. c) Some degree of Christian growth to which the believer has already attained.

10. 4) Three agents of sanctification: a) The Holy Spirit, 1 Cor 6:11; 2 Thes 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2. b) The Son, Heb 10:10. c) The Truth of God the Father, John 17:17; Eph 5:26.

11. 5) Your Experiential +S builds capacity for Divine blessing in time and eternity.

12. As your spiritual righteousness increases, your capacity increases, and therefore your blessing in time from God increases.

13. Blessings in time also mean blessings in the eternal state. Dan 12:3; Acts 20:32; 26:18; 1 Cor 3:12-15; 15:41; 2 Cor 5:10; Rev 2-3

14. Acts 20:32, “And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”

15. Dan 12:3, “Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”

16. c. Phase Three, “Ultimate Sanctification” The type of +S which identifies the believer in the eternal state.

17. 1) When we die or are taken home by means of the Rapture, our OSN is left behind and we receive a resurrection body that is perfect and incorruptible. 1 Cor 15:50-58

18. It represents the believer in his resurrection body in the eternal state. 1 Thes 4:13-18

19. 2) God the Father is the agent of our Ultimate Sanctification in the eternal state. Rom 8:28 ‑ 29; 1 Cor 1:8; Eph 1:4

20. 3) Until the Rapture of the Church, all Church Age believers who die go to heaven in an interim body where there is equally great happiness and blessing. 1 Cor 13:12

21. 1 Cor 13:12-13, “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.”

22. 4) At the Rapture all Church Age believers, those dead and still alive, receive their resurrection bodies. 1 Thes 4:16-17

23. 5) Therefore, Ultimate +S is the state of being blameless before God, possessing a resurrection body. 1 Cor 1:8; Eph 1:3-8; 1 Thes 5:23

24. 1 Cor 1:8, “Who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

25. “Blameless”, God the Father makes us free from any blame or guilt regarding our sins. We are declared and kept innocent of all wrong doing, sin or evil.

26. Therefore, based on the efficacious work of Jesus Christ upon the Cross all fault and blame has been removed forever, and we will be kept in that state eternally.

27. 1 Thes 5:23, “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

28. For all of eternity we will be holy and pure, set apart for service unto our Lord.
