3 Socrates really didn’t have a philosophy but he would question others on their philosophy trying to prove them wrong. He would use the Socratic Method (which is still used today) to try and prove others wrong. Socratic Method – obtaining information through question and answer.

4 Socrates never considered himself a Sophist because he considered himself a true philosopher, one who loves wisdom, compared to the Sophists who thought they knew wisdom. Socrates frequently clashed with the Sophists because he would question their philosophies and back them into corners. Socrates would never take a stand on an issue, rather he would question the Sophists philosophy till they had no basis to stand on.

5 He primarily questioned people who believed they knew what was right and what was wrong. Socrates big pet peeve was when people claimed to know anything about the world. He would play the devil advocate in these situations to prove that they were wrong.

6 He tried his best to use reason to acquire truth and knowledge. He believed that through reason we can get true knowledge. He was indeed a rationalist. Rationalist – a person who believes that true knowledge comes from reason.
