3. Section 8 One day short inspection for a good school after 3 years (2015/2016 a transitional year therefore not all schools will be moved into the three year cycle immediately). May change to a full Section 5 if evidence is suggesting the school is either RI or Outstanding. School could still be judged good. Led by HMI 300 short inspections in Autumn 2015 (majority remained good) 27 schools moved from good to outstanding through converted inspections

5. Requiring Improvement Schools A full inspection after 2 years The window has now been extended to 24 – 27 months Deferral of Inspection – if a school requests a deferral, inspection will happen at 30 months (currently)

6. Accountability Reforms In 2016, a primary school will be below the floor standard if: Fewer than 65% of pupils achieve the expected standard and Pupils fail to make sufficient progress in any of reading, writing and mathematics A school below the floor is a reason for significant concern which the LA or RSC would investigate. OFSTED may inspect the school earlier Floor standard identifies those schools that are failing to provide an acceptable level of performance in any one year

7. New Approach to Coasting Schools In the Education and Adoption bill (2015) a new category of schools identified- Coasting schools If bill agreed in 2016, a primary school will be in this category if it is below these levels in all three of these years: 2014 - fewer than 85% of pupils achieve level 4+ and pupils failed to make expected progress, and 2015 - fewer than 85% of pupils achieve level 4+ and pupils failed to make expected progress, and 2016 - fewer than 85% of pupils achieve the new higher expected standard and pupils fail to make sufficient progress If bill agreed in 2016, a secondary school will be in this category : If in 3 consecutive years it falls below a new coasting level set against the progress 8 measure. This level will be set in 2016 and will be above the absolute floor standard of -0.5.

8. Rochford Review of Assessment for Pupils Working Below the Standard NC Tests A small percentage of the pupil population at KS1 and KS2 will not have completed the relevant programme of study when they have reached the appropriate chronological age. As a result, these pupils will be working below the standard of both NC tests and interim teacher assessment frameworks. Many of these pupils will have special educational needs. P levels will continue to be used in 2015/2016 to report attainment for some pupils eg pupils with sever and complex SEN. The review of P levels will take place during 2016 to reflect the new national curriculum. Additional standards will be added for pupils working below the expected standard but not being judged to be attaining a P level. These will be called Interim Pre-Key Stage Standards At KS1 there will be one additional standard for English reading, writing and maths - Working at greater depth within the expected standard - Working at the expected standard - Working towards the expected standard - Foundations for the expected standard (will reflect core developmental milestones for progression onto the standards) At KS2 there will be three additional standards for English reading, writing and maths - Working at greater depth within the expected standard(writing only) - Working at the expected standard - Working towards the expected standard(writing only) pupils who have not completed the KS2 POS) - Growing development of the expected standard (will reflect elements of the KS1 curriculum that remain relevant for pupils who have not completed the KS2 POS) - Early development of the expected standard (will reflect elements of the KS1 curriculum that remain relevant for pupils who have not completed the KS2 POS) - Foundations for the expected standard (will reflect elements of the KS1 curriculum that remain relevant for pupils who have not completed the KS2 POS)

9. The School Effectiveness Strategy has been redrafted Reflects Key changes: -Focus School Monitoring protocols and procedures -Implications of HLP -LA relationship with Academies and Free Schools Consultation will take place with schools.
