3 Thesis Statement Topic + Main Idea = Thesis Statement  “Computerized special effects now bring to the screen scenes that never could have been shown before."  Basketball is a fast-paced game.  Research using the computer is an essential skill in college.

4 Topic Sentence The Topic Sentences (at the beginning of each Support Paragraph) state the support for the Main Idea in your Thesis Statement. Thesis Statement: “Computerized special effects now bring to the screen scenes that never could have been shown before." Topic Sentence 1: “Films can show disasters and re-create the past.”

5 Support There are three kinds of 1.Examples 2.Quotes 3.Data/Statistics Example: “For example, in the movie Titanic, computerized special effects showed the Titanic splitting in half as it sank….”
