2 Historical Description The artist in the group were Franz Marc, and Vassily Kandinsky. Both of them liked blue, and horses which lead to the name of the group. Improvisation 28 by Kandinsky was the first completely abstract painting. “Artists must express spirit and feeling by orchestrating color, form, line, and space”, is said by Kandinsky to explain his interest in formalism and music.
