Narnia Bar Charts LO: to solve a problem by organising and interpreting data in bar charts.

What do we know about bar charts already?

We know a bar chart should:
* have a title. * have numbered and labelled axis. * have clear bars showing how much of something has been observed/recorded. * be numbered with sensible intervals. * answer questions about the data.

A bar chart always has a title.
It might also have a ‘legend’. A bar chart always has a title. Vertical axis (y). Always labelled and numbered. This shows what the colour of each bar represents. The height of the bars show how many of something was scored/recorded. Horizontal axis (x). Always labelled.

How can we collect the information we need to construct a bar chart?

Make a frequency chart!

A frequency chart is similar to a tally chart…except you just write the number instead of recording by tally!

Your Quest Tables 1 and 2: What are the favourite Narnia characters in Year 3? * Use the given frequency chart and record the favourite Narnia characters in Year 3. * Create a bar chart showing the information you have collected.

Your Quest Tables 3 and 4: Which creatures appear most frequently in the final battle scene? * Use the given frequency information and chart and record how many times the creatures appear. * Create a bar chart showing the information you have collected.
