2. Point of View Definition: Vantage Point Perspective
Point of view is the vantage point from which a story is told. In the first person point of view, the story is told by one of the characters. In third person point of view, the story is told by a narrator who stands outside the story and reveals the events as they unfold.

3. Point of View
In the first-person point of view, the story is told by one of the characters. The character uses pronouns such as I or me and usually is in much, if not all, of the action in the story.
The narrator is a character in the story. The character/protagonist must experience everything with his/her senses or be told about something. As the reader, you experience the story only from what that character knows, thinks, and feels.

In the third-person point of view, the story is told by a narrator who is not a character in the story.
Depending on the type of third person point of view, the narrator may reveal -- the thoughts and feelings of:
1) only one character, or
2), all characters or
3) they may only be able to report what is seen or heard, like a reporter.

Third person limited: The reader observes the story from the senses and thoughts of a single character. The narrator knows everything about one character, including thoughts and feelings, but knows the other characters only through that one person.

The narrator knows everything; all thoughts, feelings, and actions. The author may choose to relate all or some of these things to the reader.
In third person omniscient, the narrator will relate the thoughts and feelings of all the characters.

7. Third person objective: The narrator only reveals to the reader what happens and what is said; we do not know any thoughts or feelings of the characters. The narrator never enters a single mind.
A good writer can tell a completely objective story in which the reader is able to determine the feelings and sometimes even the thoughts of the characters through what those characters say and do.

Second person point of view: Story told from the perspective of “you”. It is rarely used in literature. It is when the author directly speaks to the reader.
An example would be a “how to” book in which the writer refers to the audiance as “you”.
