1 All I Ever Needed to Know About Physics I Learned from Road Runner Cartoons
You will be watching several short clips from the Roadrunner cartoon. For each clip write an example of something that BROKE Newton’s Laws & an example of something that FOLLOWED Newton’s Laws. *You may need to watch each clip 2 times to complete your chart.

2 Cartoon Physics Examples that obey the laws of motion
Examples that break the laws of motion Fan powered balloon with Anvil: Human Cannonball: Rolling Boulder: Fan powered Sail: Giant Rubber Band: Fan powered balloon with Anvil: Human Cannonball: Rolling Boulder: Fan powered Sail: Giant Rubber Band:

9 The Cartoon Laws of Physics:
The Real Laws of Physics: The Cartoon Laws of Physics: Any body suspended in space will remain in space until made aware of its situation. Any body suspended in space will remain in space until the force of gravity pulls it down. Everything falls faster than an anvil. Everything falls at the same terminal velocity All principles of gravity are negated by fear. All principles of gravity work all the time Increased speed can NOT make objects be in several places at once. As speed increases, objects can be in several places at once. Any body passing through solid matter will leave NOT a perforation perfectly conforming to its perimeter. Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter.

10 Cartoon Physics Select one example of a law of motion being broken. Make a detailed drawing of the example and write a description below it explaining why the law is broken. Make a detailed drawing of what should have happened in the space below and write a description explaining why this would really occur.

11 Roadrunner fun facts http://www.desertusa.com/mag98/sep/papr/road.html
Its extreme quickness allows it to snatch a humming bird or dragonfly from midair. Roadrunners can attain speeds of 17 mph. A roadrunner catches a rattlesnake by the tail, cracks it like a whip and repeatedly slams its head against the ground till dead It reabsorbs water from its feces before excretion. The roadrunner makes a series of dovelike coos dropping in pitch, as well as a clattering sound. Roadrunners are prey for hawks, house cats, raccoons, snakes, and skunks, not coyotes!
