What is a PLC?

4. WHAT is the Expectation?
PLC’s are mandatory for k-5
All classroom teachers in grades k-5 are expected to be active participants
An Administrator is expected to be present for all PLC meetings
Leads are expected to be present for all PLC meeting – As their schedules allow

5. WHAT does the process look like: Getting from A – B (this is what a PLC is)
Meet in a PLC to discuss new standard/ learning target/ goal in ELA
Identify current standard and unpack
Align Learning target(s) to standard
Make summative assessment (unit test) and reassessment (align with current standard)
Create time line for instruction and assessments
Introduce learning target to students
utilize formative assessments to guide instruction (check ups, exit tickets, etc)
Use IME time to do preventative maintenance and enrichment (guided by formative assessments)

6. WHAT does the process look like: Getting from A – B (this is what a PLC is)
Administer summative assessment (unit test)
Meet in PLC to discuss data from assessment identify best instructional practices and plan remediation/ enrichment instruction
Conduct remediation/ enrichment – (review)
Reassess students that did not meet proficiency
discuss results
monitor growth
record what worked/ what didn’t
REPEAT
