David and Goliath

2 We all have our fears and enemies, our Giants.
LIFE CAN BE A GIANT Many Examples, Sickness (Cancer, Mental Illness, Diabetes, Vision, etc.) Loss of a loved one, an unfaithful spouse, consequently Divorce, loss of a child (other than death) Financial issues, Family Issues in general, Church issues, etc.

3 We all have our fears and enemies, our Giants.
Things that cause us to look upon them as though all is lost As In Paul’s journey to Rome by ship when a great storm arises. ACTS 27:20-25 Hopeless, Weariness when it seems we will never reach our goal - I Thess. 4:13

4 SIN IS A GIANT Many times we “create” bring our own Giants upon ourselves by our own sins just as Israel did. Sin is any transgression of God’s law. I John 3:4 Sin has wage that it will dish out – death Romans 6:23

5 SATAN IS A GIANT He is portrayed as LION - I Peter 5:8
Someone that we Wrestle with – Ephesians 6:12

Goliath: = was a giant that stood about 9 feet 9 inches. - weighted between 90 – 200 lbs, probably 125 lb. - Head of his spear weighed between lbs. probably 15 lbs. and a shaft equal to hold and carry it in battle. - 3,000 Chariots - 6,0000 horsemen troops as many as sands of seashore

9 I Samuel 16:11,12,18 – 17:33,42 C. David: = youngest son, a young man healthy and handsome. - had a “pocket full of rocks (5) and a sling”, no sword, knife or spear, not even a shield.

We too can overcome our Giants as David did. 1. By meeting the Challenge – HEAD ON, AT A RUN I Samuel 17:48-51 2. Not in Fear of a Giant, but Confidence in God. PSALMS 3, PSALMS 27:1-3

Realizing God will not let us be tempted with more than we can bear – I CORINTHIANS 10:13 Realizing that if I am on God’s Side, no one can stand against me – ROMANS 8:31 “I do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” PHIL. 4:13

13 We must trust God to defend us.
Draw close to God - Resist Satan and he will FLEE from You – Do not give him a place in your life. James 4:7, Eph. 4:27 GOD/CHRIST are BIGGER than any Giant we can ever face We don't have to be afraid.  Jesus is always with us to protect us and give us courage.
