20 三 Help! I lost my case! answers
Let’s share the answers.

21 四 Refreshing The Memory: Court System
Make a line starting at the front table that goes back to the cabinets. I will stop the timer I have started when everyone is standing quietly and facing forward.

22 Let’s Take This Baby Up! Pick Up
Totals for the Quarter Let’s Take This Baby Up! Pick Up Appellate Courts Line Up Match Up 1st period 6:43.8 1:05.7 DNP 2nd period 10:37.1 1:08.5 0:45.1 DNQ 4th period 11:46.7 0:37.2 5th period 9:38.8 1:11.8 6th period 9:53.0 0:59.4

23 四 Refreshing The Memory: Court System
I will give each person a slip of paper. Return to your seat with that paper. Write your name on the back of it. When everyone has returned to her/his seat, we are going to play a matching game to create groups. If your paper has a number, you are a group leader. Use your reading page to find who should be in your group. If your paper doesn’t have a number, try to figure out which number matches your paper. (wait for the next slide)

24 四 Refreshing The Memory: Court System
The timer has started. I will stop the timer when all nine groups have formed. 1. The Court of Appeals does not hold a trial all over again 4. Cases in the appellate courts are heard by more than one judge 7. Cases decided by the Supreme Court are particularly important 2. The Court of Appeals must accept every case 5. Oral argument is an important part of an appeal 8. If someone wins or loses a Supreme Court case, person with a similar case won’t automatically win or lose 3. Decisions from the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court are precedent for new cases 6. The Supreme Court does not have to take every case that comes along 9. People do not get to testify at the Supreme Court

25 五 Venn and Magic Square This final paper will be paper number five for your notes check on the 6th of March. You may work with the groups you came up with for the last activity.
