1 Lesson Plan – Biology 10 th Class Topic- Control & Co-Ordination Sub Topic-Nervous System In Humans

2 General Objectives To develop scientific attitude among students.
To inculcate leadership quality. To inculcate spirit of inquiring. To develop habit of working in group. To co-relate knowledge with the environment.

3 Specific Objectives To impart knowledge about control & coordination in human beings Structures & function of Nerve cells. Importance of synapses.

4 Time interval in minutes
TIME MANAGMENT S.No. Activities Time interval in minutes 1 Motivation and P.K. testing. 2 Presentation by teacher 8 3 Group formation & their activities 12 4 Assignments and feed back 10 5 Home assignments

5 P K TESTING What happen when you step on banana (kele ka chhilka)?
Teacher will ask to hold tightly wrist of another student and ask question? Why you pull of your leg when a thorn prick you? Why your mouth watered when you see or think of about delicious food? Why do you plug your ears during loud sound of fire crackers?

6 What is this ? What is the function of this Organ?

7 Name the Animal What is he doing? Which Organ is responsible for this ?

8 What is cow doing? What is the function of this organ?

9 What is happening in this picture?
Which organ is responsible for this event ?

10 ORGAN OF TOUCH (SKIN)

11 Control and Coordination
The Senses

12 There are two Major Systems in The Body Which controls & coordinates the body activities Such as: Digestion Respiration, Excretion, Movements etc. along with all these five sense Organs.

13 In animals Nervous system & Hormonal system plays an important role in control & co-ordination.
TEACHER SHOULD ASK QUESTION TO STUDENTS ABOUT TWO SYSTEM OF CONTROL AND COORDINATION

14 HUMAN NERVOUS SYSTEM WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE?
POINT OUT TWO PARTS OF HUMAN NERVOUS SYSTEM WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS OF NERVOUS SYSTEM?

15 Nervous system receives and responds to information about what happens inside and outside of body Stimulus - any change that brings about a response (reaction) maintains homeostasis

16 Central nervous system (CNS) - made up of brain and spinal cord
The brain is the control center of the body

17 Spinal cord - links brain with peripheral nervous system
Spinal cord - links brain with peripheral nervous system. Controls reflexes. Protected by vertebrae.

18 Peripheral nervous system (PNS) – nerves branch from CNS (brain/spinal cord) to body
Somatic N.S: voluntary actions - Autonomic N.S: involuntary actions (reflexes)

19 Both the part of nervous system (CNS & PNS) formed of some specific cell.
Can you tell me the name of those cells?

20 NEURON STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL UNIT OF NERVOUS SYSTEM

21 Neuron – cell that carries information (nerve impulse) through the body Has three parts: 1 .Cell body – contains nucleus 2 . Dendrite – carries impulse toward cell body 3 . Axon – carries impulse away from cell body Students should be asked to draw structure and mention its parts

22 Three types of neurons: -Sensory neuron – receives information from senses -Interneuron – carries impulse from sensory neuron to motor neuron -Motor neuron – sends impulse to muscle for action Students should be asked to draw structure and mention its parts What are the function of each part?

23 There are millions of neurons in human nervous system
These neurons are connected to each other Note:- Ask about the connection between the two neurons i.e. Synapse.

24 Synapse-The junction between two neurons or with muscles is called synapse.

25 STRUCTURE OF SYNAPSE Synapse have three parts 1 Axon terminal
2 Gape junction 3 Dendrite of another neuron Synapse transfer information from one neuron to another through chemicals.

26 PATHWAY OF NERVE IMPULSE
Draw the flow chart and find the pathway of flow of nerve impulses.

27 Identify the parts of nervous system and labble them.

28 Name the two system of control and coordination.

29 MATCH THE COLUMN A B 1 organ of sight 2 Nerve cell
3 Controlling Centre 4 Synapse 5 Sensory Neuron 1 Neuron 2 Junction between neurons 3 carry information to Brain 4 Eye 5 Brain

30

31 Group Formation According to the strength of class (usually 5-6 students in a group)

32 Group Activities GROUP -1
Prepare a list of example of control and coordination in animals. GROUP-2 Prepare a chart showing structure of Neuron. GROUP-3 Draw a flow chart of information between environment and nervous system. GROUP-4 List the sense organs and find out their functions.

33 Presentation Of Group Based Activities
Students will present their activities

34 Assignment /Feedback Organ of hearing…………………………………………………………….
Basic structural and Functional unit of nervous system is………………… ……………… receives information from surroundings Which part of neuron receives information Name the site where conversion of electric signal to chemical signal occurs in a neuron Name the sense organ found in your body. Why do we constrict our eyes during bright light? Director of Body is (a) Heart (b) Kidney (c) Brain (d) Lungs. The connection between two neuron is called (a) dendrites (b) synapse (c) Axon (d) impulse Sensory neuron carries information from Sense organ. (Yes / No). Name two types of system which is responsible for control & coordination.

35 HOME ASSIGNMENT Write down the function of nervous system.
Prepare model of a Neuron. What is a Synapse? Discuss its functions. Differentiate sensory and motor neuron.
