7 AMDM In the following slides we will answer these and other questions you may have.

8 AMDM What is AMDM? Advance Mathematical Decision Making

9 AMDM is: a fourth Math credit;
a new Georgia State graduating requirement. a new and different kind of class. a course to apply all you prior Math class knowledge. probably the hardest class you have ever taken.

10 Should I be enrolled in AMDM?
AMDM has certain PRE-Requisites

11 AMDM Pre-requisites Need to have passed Algebra II
If you have not passed Algebra II, please see me at the end of the class and consult your counselor for alternate class enrollment and possible schedule changes.

12 Seniors The time will soon come for you to graduate.
At one point or another, you will likely: Seek employment Attend Community College Attend Higher Learning opportunities Enlist Armed Forces

13 Accountability Activity Accountable to:
Employment >>>>>>>>>> Community College >>>>> College >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Enlisting in Armed Forces > Employer Graduating Plan or Technical Licensing Graduating plan Higher Ranks

14 What happens if my work is not of the highest quality?
AMDM What happens if my work is not of the highest quality? There are certain student expectations…

15 Expectations You will participate.
You will work in teams and/or individually. You will be accountable to your class and your teams. You will share and challenge. You will prepare and present written and oral presentations to the class. You will always be on task. You will produce high quality work.

16 Expectations We expect students in this class to reach beyond a high school level. All assignments that are turned in must be neat, well-organized, and of the HIGHEST QUALITY. How and why your (team) work is created is KEY in this class. You will be required to COMPLETELY justify all work in both written and verbal form (no questions left unanswered). Everyone on the team is responsible and accountable to each other and themselves. Absences and tardiness will negatively affect you and your team’s grade. If you are absent, you are responsible for any notes and/or assignments that you missed – get these from your team.

17 Procedures You will leave your binder and any team work in the classroom (unless otherwise noted by the instructor). Too many absences/tardies will result in being fired from your team (let me assure you that you will need/want help from you classmates). Since many grades will be nontraditional, make-up work will be decided at the discretion of your teacher.

18 How can I succeed in AMDM?
You must…

19 Keys to Success Be here; be on time.
Present high quality work to class. Participate in class discussions. Use all prior knowledge. Be resourceful; think ahead. Support your team. One for all; all for one. If you work, you will enjoy the class and succeed.

20 What can affect my success in AMDM?
You must not…

21 Keys to Fail Be late; be absent. Not present work to class.
Not participate in class discussions. Not be able to use prior knowledge. Not be able to answer a question from a presentation. Not support your team.

22 AMDM How will I be graded?
You will be graded for homework, quizzes, tests, projects, presentations and research.

23 Evaluation You and your team are CONSTANTLY being evaluated…be prepared at ALL times! You will be evaluated both individually and within a group setting. You are responsible for ALL material and the JUSTIFICATION for it. How and why your (team) work is created is KEY in this class. You will be required to COMPLETELY justify all work in both written and verbal form (no questions left unanswered).
