4 Program Purposes Initial preparation of school leaders (Cert., MEd, & EdS) Principals Assistant principals Advanced preparation of educational leaders Superintendents & Central office positions (EdD) Development of future researchers/faculty in Educational Leadership (PhD) A major goal of the Curry School is to prepare professional educators who will become leaders in their respective fields. We prepare educational leaders for schools, school divisions and higher education.

17 Program of Study Integration of theory, experience, and research
Cohort-based First and second year: Strong core of theory and research Field-based practicum projects Use of case studies Customized areas of specialization Third year: Study of a problem of practice culminating in a Capstone Dissertation The curriculum is designed to balance and more fully integrate the primary sources of knowledge: theory, experience, and research. A strong core of theory and research will be introduced during the first and second year and applied through field-based learning experiences and a structured applied research sequence fostering disciplined inquiry. Customized areas of specialization such as reading and policy will be possible through an array of electives. The third and final year will be devoted to an in-depth study of a problem of practice culminating in a Capstone Dissertation.

Week-long course during first summer to build collegiality and appreciation for the diversity of experiences and perspectives of the group members High-impact weekends of Fridays/Saturdays once a month throughout the year Course delivery is tailored around the needs of working professionals with weekend classes and summer residencies.
