Pee-gloo

Salient features It’s a bamboo based structure which is easily installable and ensures a private, Zero-Odor enclosure for the user. It doesn’t use water Requires no human intervention. The vines/creepers would be grown over the bamboo case The outlet of the minimally designed urinal is connected to perforated tubes that is led to the sub-soil to be taken up by vines. A gravel bed for spillage Smectite setup to prevent breakdown of Urea to ‘Smelly’ Ammonia. Zeolite for removal of moisture and extra odor removal from urinal setup.

How do we make this WORK?

Awareness programs Installation drives: Cleaning the selected area.
Setting up basic skeleton structure, cementing the bamboo sticks into the ground, creating a support structure for the vines. Planting of vines, which grow to form the enclosure. Volunteers gathered through social media and word of mouth.

Awareness programs Follow through drives: Road skits:
Weekly grooming of vines till the structure is complete. Installation of urinals, laying out the gravel and absorbents. Road skits: Having road skits to make the public aware of the option.

How the hell is this Sustainable?

The Business Model The Bamboo Network! We get together cane workers from around the country to build the base structure for Pee- gloo. Pee-gloo Company Pvt. Ltd takes Govt. contracts and pays to the Bamboo Network, fair prices and provides a guaranteed work order. Thus, this creates huge employability for Bamboo Craftsmen, keeps the Indian Art alive. Why would the Govt. be interested in funding? Because now they don’t have to employ costly toilet solutions[1] worth lakhs of Rupees (Taxpayer’s Money) and also saves on the consequent maintenance, paying only a “fraction” of this expenditure to the Pee-Gloo Company and thus to the Bamboo Network. [1]

“The World Bank's recent study "Economic Impacts of Inadequate Sanitation in India" estimated that sanitation deficits cost the country about 6.4 percent of its 2006 gross domestic product -- a kind of hidden toilet tax that disproportionately affects the poor and makes them even poorer[1].” “Last month [October] , the Indian government announced it was partnering with the Gates Foundation to put up $2 million as source capital for the winner of the "Reinvent the Toilet Challenge -- India." The competition follows a similar one last year, won by a team from Caltech. It hopes to announce a winner March 22, [1]” [1]
