Benzene (petrol additive) A colourless cyclic hydrocarbon obtained from coal and petroleum, used as a solvent in fuel and in chemical manufacture - and contained in cigarette smoke. It is a known carcinogen and is associated with leukaemia. Formaldehyde (embalming fluid) A colourless liquid, highly poisonous, used to preserve dead bodies - also found in cigarette smoke. Known to cause cancer, respiratory, skin and gastrointestinal problems. Ammonia (toilet cleaner) Used as a flavouring, frees nicotine from tobacco turning it into a gas, found in dry cleaning fluids. Tar Particulate matter drawn into lungs when you inhale on a lighted cigarette. Once inhaled, smoke condenses and about 70 per cent of the tar in the smoke is deposited in the smoker's lungs. Nicotine (insecticide/addictive drug) One of the most addictive substances known to man, a powerful and fast-acting medical and non-medical poison. This is the chemical which causes addiction. Carbon Monoxide (CO) (car exhaust fumes) An odourless, tasteless and poisonous gas, rapidly fatal in large amounts - it's the same gas that comes out of car exhausts and is the main gas in cigarette smoke, formed when the cigarette is lit. Others you may recognize are : Arsenic (rat poison), Hydrogen Cyanide (gas chamber poison)

11 Quotes from Doctors and researchers
Yes, “nicotine is a poison.” Tobacco is “a poison that is more dangerous than hemlock, deadlier than opium Assuredly, when [people] try it for the first time, [they] feel an uneasiness that tells us that we have taken poison.” Soon “all reasoning, all warning is in vain. He cannot shake off his enemy . . . tobacco alone becomes a fatal, insatiable necessary [addiction] smoking is a permanent epilepsy.” “Tobacco is, in fact, an absolute poison.” “Tobacco is in fact an absolute poison.” The effect is “always to destroy life.”

16 Why to quit (God’s reason)

17 There are principles that are found throughout the Bible.
Why should you quit? There are principles that are found throughout the Bible. There are 5 principles that are found in the New Testament that goes against smoking.

18 1. Principle of NO Self-inflicted wounds.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

19 2. Principle of the Golden Rule.
Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

20 2. Principle of the Golden Rule.
Philippians 2:3-4 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

21 3. Principle of the Lighthouse.
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

22 3. Principle of the Lighthouse.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

23 4. Principle of the body on the alter.
Romans 12:1-2 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Can Anyone say that it is the will of God that they smoke cigarettes?

24 5. Principle of “don’t give the reins away”.
1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

25 2 Corinthians 6:17-7:1 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
