1 Bible Answers To Questions On Baptism
Matthew 28:18-20

2 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

3 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

4 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

5 Why Do We Place Such Emphasis on Baptism

6 A. Why Do We Insist That Every Believer Be Baptized

7 1. To follow Christ’ example

8 2. Baptism is essential to obedience.

9 1 Peter 3:21- There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

10 3. It is a confession of your faith in Christ.

11 Romans 6:4 -  Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life

12 4. It initiate's you into fellowship of the church

13 Acts 2:  Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

14 Acts 2:  So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

15 Acts 2:46-47 - 47 praising God and having favor with all the people
Acts 2:  47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

16 B. Who Did Christ Command To Baptize?

17 C. Why Do Baptist Insist on Immersion

18 D. What Does Baptism Symbolize

19 Romans 6:4 -  Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life

20 1. Death ,Burial, and Resurrection of Christ

21 2. Future resurrection of the believer

22 E. Why Do We Not Accept Sprinkling or Pouring

23 1. It is not Scriptural

24 II. Four Basic Requirements for Scriptural Baptism.

25 A. A Scriptural Candidate

26 1. One who has believed in Christ.

27 Acts 8:36-37 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”

28 37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.”
And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

29 2. Acted on that belief through commitment.

30 B. A Scriptural Mode

31 1. This must be by immersion.

32 C. A Scriptural Purpose

33 1. A confession of Faith in Christ

34 D. A Scriptural Administrator

35 1. A New Testament Church

36 2. A saved body

37 3. A baptized body

38 4. A local body

39 5. A democratic body

40 6. An independent body

41 III. What qualifies One to Be Baptized

42 A. Faith in Jesus Christ

43 Acts 8:36-38 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”

44 37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.”
And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

45 38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still
38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.

46 IV. Will a Person who Dies Without Being Baptized Be Lost?

47 Luke 23:43 43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

48 Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

49 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

50 I John 1:7  But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

51 V. When Should One Be Baptized?

52 Acts 2:41  Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

53 Acts 8:12 and women were baptized But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

54 Acts 10:44-48 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

55 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.

56  46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered,

57  47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”

58 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

59  Acts 16:15  And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.

60  Acts 16:33   And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.
