2 Smart Start If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why? Identify your own personal push and pull factors – at least two of each!

3 Today’s Objectives SWBAT differentiate between the different types of migration. SWBAT identify the main causes of migration.

4 Keep in mind… Class today is going to use a lot of information that we’ve been discussing this year. You need to make sure that we are focusing on being KNOWLEDGEABLE – that we are thinking to what you do know, and applying it today and making some awesome connections!

Migration is movement from one place to another. Have scholars write this in their notes packet.

7 Vocabulary: Emigration
Emigration is moving OUT of a place. Have scholars write this in their notes packet.

8 Vocabulary: Immigration
Immigration is moving INTO a place. Have scholars write this in their notes packet.

9 Important Questions What is the difference between EMIGRATION and IMMIGRATION?

If your birthday is next, you get IMMIGRATION If your birthday is not next, you get EMMIGRATION Create a comic that represents the vocabulary word you have been assigned. Your comic must contain: A minimum of THREE panels Words, can be a dialogue (more than one person) or monologue (one person talking) It should be EXTREMELY CLEAR whether your person is EMIGRATING or IMMIGRATING

Voluntary migration is when people choose to move from one place to another. Have scholars write this in their notes packet.

Involuntary migration is when people are forced to move from one place to another. Have scholars write this in their notes packet.

The person with DARKER hair has INVOLUNTARY MIGRATION. The person with LIGHTER hair has VOLUNTARY MIGRATION. Create a comic that represents the vocabulary word you have been assigned.
