EAOP’s Goals
Since 1975, EAOP has continuously worked to increase access to higher education for California’s educationally disadvantaged students. We have served as UCLA’s program for college preparedness to middle school and high school students in the greater Los Angeles area.

Math and Science Academy May 10
Academic Prep Boot Camp July 18-20
For 9th-11th grade EAOP students
Students build math and science skills while learning about various career opportunities that are available through math and science degrees.
For rising 10th/11th grade EAOP students
Summer residential program that builds student’s academic foundation through rigorous writing classes and creative hands-on experiences/activities.
Parent Ambassador Aug. 9 & 10
College Application Boot Camp June 28-29
For parents
Summer residential program where parents are trained by EAOP staff on college prep information. The goal is to have parents become education advocates and provide college information to their community.
For rising 12th grade EAOP students
An intensive commuter program where students participate in a college application, financial aid application, and personal statement workshop.

5. To stay in EAOP students must:

Selecting Students
Student Selection Criteria
>Demonstrate academic potential
>1st generation college student
>Family Income
>Attending a school with limited college prep curriculum
>Reside in a community with low college going rates
>Attending a school with below average SAT/ACT exam scores
>Teacher/counselor recommendations
If students fail to meet the criteria to stay on our team, they will receive a written notification from their site team. Students will have ONE semester to raise their GPA to at least a 3.0. Students who don’t meet our GPA requirements will be inactivated from the program and may not be able to participate in our highly selective programs.
To stay in EAOP students must:
>Maintain at least a 2.4 GPA or in the process of achieving a 2.4 GPA
>Attend EAOP meetings at school sites
>Attend EAOP events at UCLA
>Visit the Site Coordinator at their school on a regular basis

Based on a 2013 Senior Survey (2,626 EAOP students):
81% of program participants completed and passed their “A-G” courses
74% of program participants completed their “A-G” coursed AND
registered/took the ACT or SAT exam
80% of program participants applied, were accepted, AND enrolled in
postsecondary institutions upon high school graduation

>Attend parent meetings
>Keep track of student’s extracurricular activities
>Communicate with counselor and EAOP on student progress
>Encourage child to participate in EAOP programs (ie. Saturday Academies, summer boot camps, and school workshops)
>Attend EAOP events
>Frequently visit us at your school’s college office
>Take all UC required entrance exams and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
>Get involved in extra-curricular activities that interest you
>Communicate with your high school College Counselor for additional information.

On June 15, 2012, President Obama announced that undocumented immigrants who entered the US before the age of 16 may be eligible for “Deferred Action”. If granted, they will NOT be deported and qualify for a work permit renewable every 2 years.
To be eligible you must show that you:
>Have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor, or 3 misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety
>Were physically present in the US on June 15, 2012, & at the time of making your request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS
>Are currently in school, have your HS Diploma or GED or you are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the US
