4 2.a. Identify What is the theory of plate tectonic?
The Theory that the earth’s crust is not one solid piece and there are large slow moving slabs of rock that ride over the pliable layer of the Earth’s mantle and because of this movement landforms are formed.

5 2.b. Compare & Contrast How are the effects of colliding plates and separating plates similar and different? They are similar because they both form landforms. Colliding plates form ocean trenches, mountains; Separating plates form ocean ridges, volcanic islands.

6 2.c. Predict How might Earth’s surface change as tectonic plates continue to move?
It can create new landforms and change existing ones.

7 3.a. Recall What is the process of weathering?
Weathering is the breaking up and breaking down of rock on the Earth’s surface into smaller and smaller pieces.

8 3.b. Elaborate How does water affect sediment?
Water moves sediment from one place to another, creating new landforms.

9 4.a. Recall How do landforms affect life on Earth?
People settle in certain areas because of the landforms and they also affect what jobs are available They might grow crops on terrace farms or roads for transportation. 4.b. Predict How might people adapt to life in an area with steep mountains?
