2. If a pregnant woman drinks alcoholic beverages and smokes, the alcohol and the smoke not only get into her blood but it also go to her baby’s. While the alcohol and smoke affect you only temporarily, they can stigmatize the baby for the rest of its life.

4. SMOKING Effects on pregnancy
Sudden infant death syndrome
Asthma in children
Learning difficulties
Grow more slowly
Gain less weight in the womb
Linked to preterm labor and other pregnancy complication
Genetic abnormalities including cleft lip of palate, bowel, eyes, ears or spinal cord malformations or problems
Behavioral problems
Colds
Lung problems
Ear infections.
When you smoke you inhale nicotine and carbon monoxide and these substances can keep your baby from getting the proper supply of nutrients and oxygen.  This means your baby may grow more slowly and gain less weight
Also it may cause lung problems, asthma or other genetic abnormalities because the substance of cigarettes offend the organism of the baby.

According to American Lung Association, smoking during pregnancy is associated with miscarriages, still births , low-birth weight, premature birth and infant death. Smoking during pregnancy is estimated to account for 20-30% of low-birth weight babies and about 10% of all infant deaths.
