Use the SIMPLE PAST of REGULAR and IRREGULAR verbs. Use expressions like CONGRATULATIONS and GOOD LUCK. Say you did? to show that you’re interested or surprised.

3 Simple Past Tense: Affirmative sentences using Regular Verbs.

4 Simple Past Tense: Affirmative sentences using Irregular Verbs.

5 Simple Past Tense: Negative sentences.
Remember… Didn’t = Did not I didn’t buy new shoes. You didn’t study English. He didn’t watch the news. She didn’t go to play basketball. It didn’t clean well. We didn’t cook Chinese food. They didn’t invite their sisters.

6 Simple Past Tense: Interrogative sentences.
Did I go to play soccer? Did You study Biology? Did He watch the news? Did She want to go out yesterday? Did It clean the bathroom? Did We cook Mexican food? Did They invite their wives?

7 Use the simple past of regular and irregular verbs.
Did you play tennis last week? Yes, I did. I played tennis last Sunday. No, I didn’t. I didn’t play tennis.

9 Say you did? to show that you’re interested or surprised.
