1 TSW 8 Protists By Tae Sung Huh

2 What is protist? Protists are eukaryotics.
kingdom Protista, mostly classified by how they move Protists fungus-like plant-like protists. Phacus Giant Kelps

3 Protozoan Like animals, animal like protists are called protozoans and they are heterotrophs but unlike animals, they are unicellular. It could be classified as protozoans with pseudo pods, Cilia, Flagella and others.

4 Protozoans Protozoans with Cilia pseudopods
Pseudopods bulges of cytoplasm oozes. Protozoans with Cilia Ciliates hairlike structures. move, obtain food sense the enviroment. Has complex cells

5 Other Protozoans Protozoans with Flagella
Flagellates and uses tails to move Most Flagellates have one to eight long, whiplike flagella that help them move. Other Protozoans Sporozoans Floaters many are parasites Sporozoans feed on the cells and body fluids of their hosts.

6 Fungus like Protists Second group of protists are fungus like protists,. Fungus like protists are heterotrophs, have cell walls, and use spores to reproduce.

7 Water molds and Downy Mildews Slime molds
Most water molds Downy mildews live in water or in moist place. It also attacks crops and fishes. Slime molds live in moist soil and on decaying plants and trees. They are often beautifully colored

8 Plant like protists Plant like protists, which are commonly called algae , are even more variad than the animal like and the fungus like protists. They are aututrophs like the plants.

9 Euglenoids Euglenoids are green and unicellular. Found in fresh water (mostly) They could be heterotrophs under certain conditions. Dinoflagellates Dinoflagellates are unicellular. Covered by stiff plates that look like a suit of armor. They are any colors.

10 Green Algae Red Algae Contain green pigments Quite diverse
Most are unicellular Some from colonies and few are a multicellular. Red Algae Most are multicellular seaweeds. It could grow 260m below the sea level. Some are used in ice creams and hair conditioners.

11 Brown Algae Most seaweeds are a brown algae.
In their brown pigment, there are green, yellow, and orange pigments. It flourish in cool, rocky waters.
