The form of the sentence in Greek implies that it is actually impossible for Satan to deceive them.

91. Here and There
“…the great deceiver will make it appear that Christ has come. In DIFFERENT PARTS of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness, resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation. Revelation 1: The glory that surrounds him is unsurpassed by anything that mortal eyes have yet beheld. The shout of triumph rings out upon the air: "Christ has come! Christ has come!" GC

92. The Second Coming 26 … BELIEVE IT NOT.

98. The Coming of Christ
“Soon there appears in the east a small black cloud, about half the size of a man's hand. It is the cloud which surrounds the Saviour and which seems in the distance to be shrouded in darkness.
