3 Christian Characteristics
2 Peter 1:5-10 Christian Characteristics Godliness “Piety, which is characterized by a Godward attitude, does that which is well-pleasing to God” God-likeness

4 Godliness Commanded By Peter
2 Peter 3:11 Seeing that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy living and godliness.

5 Godliness Commanded By Paul
1 Timothy 4:7 but refuse profane and old wives' fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:

6 Godliness Commanded By Paul
Titus 2: For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12 instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world; 13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

7 Ways We Can Be Like God In Love
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life.

8 Ways We Can Be Like God In Love
1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

9 Ways We Can Be Like God In Impartiality
1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to each man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear:

10 Ways We Can Be Like God In Mercy
Titus 3:5 Not by works done in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

11 Ways We Can Be Like God In Holiness
Matt 5:48 Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

12 Godliness Often Misconstrued
Some think that gain is godliness 1 Timothy 6: he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmising, 5 wrangling of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain.

13 Godliness Often Misconstrued
Some practice an outward form of godliness 2 Timothy 3:5 Holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power therefore. From these also turn away.

14 Results of Godliness Ensures persecution
2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

15 Results of Godliness Godliness works deliverance from temptation
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.

16 Results of Godliness Godliness with contentment is where we gain
1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain:

17 “Be content with what you have, never with what you are.”
Results of Godliness Godliness prepares us for the life to come 1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come. “Be content with what you have, never with what you are.”

18 CONCLUSION Pray for conditions favorable to practicing godliness
1 Timothy 2: I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men; 2 for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.

19 CONCLUSION Godly people are set apart for the Lord
Psalms 4:3 But know that Jehovah hath set apart for himself him that is godly: Jehovah will hear when I call unto him.

20 CONCLUSION Good works become professors of godliness
1 Timothy 2: In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shame fastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment; 10 but, which becomes women professing godliness, through good works.

21 CONCLUSION Must strive to be like Him – to be with Him in eternity!
1 John 3: Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is. 3 And every one that hath this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

22 Christian Characteristics
2 Peter 1:5-10 Christian Characteristics Godliness “For if these things be in you and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”
