7. The World The culture in which we live, hostile to God
1 John 2: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him, 16 because all that is in the world (the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the arrogance produced by material possessions) is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away with all its desires, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.
1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?
The culture in which we live, hostile to God
Operates only by the senses (but empowered by spirits beyond the senses)

The Message: "Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."

I could go on.

16. What God Says About the Flesh
“This isn't the first time I have warned you, you know. If you use your freedom this way, you will not inherit God's kingdom.
“But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

The Devil
He has legions of wicked angelic beings under him who serve him in various administrative capacities: rulers, authorities, powers, dominions, world forces of darkness.
He disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14)
His servants (demons) disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. (2 Cor. 11:15)
He is the accuser of the brethren. (Rev. 12:10)
He deceives the whole world. (Rev. 12:9)
He prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking to devour people (1 Pet. 5:8)
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NET) 13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will correspond to their actions.
