1. Come, Lord Jesus – The people needed a Savior
1. Come, Lord Jesus – The people needed a Savior. Sin separated man from God, but Jesus came to bring reconciliation.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned… For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. (Isaiah 7:14; 9:2-7, NIV)

In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."  Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be

with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. (Luke 1:26-31, NIV)

He Came Prophets through the ages Told about His birth A virgin will conceive, they said And God will come to earth

He shall know not evil Choosing what is right Heaven’s joy He brings us as darkness becomes light

In the fullness of time He came With the world on His mind, He came With His heart filled with love From the Father above

Then one bore a witness of this light to come He told how Jesus Christ would be rejected by His own

But those who receive Him Sons of God are they Knowing Christ the Savior The Life, the Truth, the Way

In the fullness of time He came With the world on His mind, He came With His heart filled with love From the Father above

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:6-7, NIV)

2. Angels Adore Him – God often used angels as His messengers to bring news to His people. The angels declared the good news of Christ’s birth.

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." (Luke 2:9-14, NIV)

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, (Luke 2:15-17, NIV)

Silent night, holy night All is calm, all is bright Round yon Virgin,

4. Wise Men Adore Him – The Wisemen gave what they had in worship to God

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.”… Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as

you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him."
After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. (Matt. 2:1-2, 7-11)

What Child Is This? What child is this who laid to rest, On Mary's lap is sleeping Whom angels greet with anthems sweet While shepherds watch are keeping This, this is Christ the King Whom shepherds guard and angels sing Haste, haste to bring Him laud The Babe, the Son of Mary

gold and myrrh; Come peasant, king to own Him. The King of Kings
So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh; Come peasant, king to own Him. The King of Kings salvation brings Let loving hearts enthrone Him This, this is Christ the King Whom shepherds guard and angels sing Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary

Over the skies of Bethlehem appeared a star While angels sang
Christmas Offering Over the skies of Bethlehem appeared a star While angels sang to lowly shepherds Three wisemen seeking truth traveled from afar hoping to find the child from heaven And falling on their knees, They bowed before the humble Prince of Peace

5. Simeon and Anna Adore Him – They waited for God’s timing and recognized God’s blessing. Then, they shared the Good news with those around them.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised

God, saying, "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel." The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in

Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too." There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them

at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. (Luke 2:25-38, NIV)

6. We Adore Him – We respond to God in worship through receiving Jesus, obeying the Word of God, bowing before Him, giving all we have, and telling others the Good News.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his

glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1: 1, 5, 12, 14, NIV) The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.“ (Matthew 4:16, NIV) "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14, NIV)
