1 We Will Rise Resurrection and Yeast
1 Corinthians 15:50-58 Page 1791

2 Yeast History

3 Passing It On Sourdough yeast can be kept indefinitely and is passed on from person to person. One generation from extinction.

4 Core to Our Faith The resurrection of Jesus.
We have a faith that directs the present, is based on the past, and will be seen as true in the future.

5 The Resurrection from “The Passion”

6 THE Question: Who wants to spend eternity in heaven???
What is stopping you?

7 Empty Cross & Empty Tomb
Christianity is a religion of the open tomb. Roy L. Smith The Gospels do not explain the Resurrection; the Resurrection explains the Gospels. Belief in the Resurrection is not an appendage to the Christian faith; it is the Christian faith. John S. Whale

8 Evidence of the Resurrection
The best proof that Christ has risen is that he is still alive. And for the immense majority of our contemporaries, the only way of seeing him alive is for us Christians to love one another. Louis Evely (1910- )

9 Evidence… Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime. Martin Luther ( )

10 A New Life! The same power that brought Christ back from the dead is operative within those who are Christ's. The Resurrection is an ongoing thing. Leon Morris

11 Why Show the Empty Tomb? The stone was rolled away from the door, not to permit Christ to come out, but to enable the disciples to go in.

12 What is the Relevance? Jesus coming out of the tomb is good, but what does it mean to me? 1. Life is temporary. 2. Jesus’ was the first to be eternally raised not the last!

13 Death Without the Sting??
How can we face our mortality without fear? Can we have confidence that death has no sting?

14 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 Page 1791 I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: (1) We will not all sleep [1 Thessalonians 4:15], but (2) we will all be changed-- 52 (3) in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, (4) at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, (5) the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

15 Verses 53-54 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When (1) the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and (2) the mortal with immortality, …

16 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 Page 1791 then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory.” [Isaiah 25:8] 1CO 15:55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?“ [Hosea 13:14] 1CO 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

17 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 Page 1791 1CO 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

18 Verse 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Have you accepted His gift through your own death, burial, and resurrection? If not, why not? Would you like our help? If you have accepted the victory what are you doing with it?

19 Your Faith How is faith leavening your life?
Are you putting the effort into sustained growth? Who has God brought into your life so that you could pass some of your faith along? How are you helping people in your life become ready for the resurrection?
