2. Introduction
This message is a continuation, a part two, of our study of Science and the Bible.
For those naysayers out there, I am not a man with a PhD in any area of science and I am not the world’s most gifted Bible teacher, but I do believe in God’s Word and rightly dividing it and at the same time have more than just a passing interest in science.

I only say this because these messages do attract those who wish to attack Scripture and those who profess to believe that God is superior to man in everyway.
Of course, they always attack but never offer any thing of substance as to why they say what they say.
They are neither believers nor scientists.

The number beging spoken of here is uncountable by man.

In this section pay attention to the fact that God is commanding Isaac to sojourn in this land.

Here God is telling Isaac, after giving him the commandment to sojourn in the land, because of Abraham’s obedience, Isaac’s seed will be multiplied as the stars of heaven and all nations in the earth shall be blessed.

This is not just a message about the number of stars but it contains a message that we need to be obedient to God’s word.

62 And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
Just as surely as God can make the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob like the stars of heaven, He can destroy it all. It is God who needs to be feared and glorified.
The heavens, which was created by God, declares the glory of God; why is it man, which was created by God, hesitates to do so?

There is a famous astronomer and mathematician named Claudius Ptolemy.
His book, The Almagest, catalogued 1,022 stars.
Ptolemy finished this work in 150AD.

It was an attack by the devil because if people would believe the number of the stars was a little over a 1,000 there was no need to give Scripture any credence.

Of course, there are many more stars than 1,022.
On a dark, clear night, it is actually possible to see somewhere around 5,000+ stars without any assistance from binoculars or a telescope.
Of course, your own eyesight has to be taken into account here.

It is estimated that our own galaxy, The Milky Way, contains over 100 billion stars.
Astronomers believe that there are actually more galaxies than the number of stars in our own galaxy.
Based on what we saw before, this makes sense. An estimated 100 billion trillion stars exist.

With man it is impossible to count the number of stars.
But with God, all things are possible.

4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
It is impossible for an individual to count to 100 billion trillion in a lifetime. It would take over 63 trillion years to count to this number even if you could count to 5 in 1 second. If a person lives to 70, it would take over 905 billion lifetimes to count to this number.

We will take a look now at the age of the universe and the earth.
How old is the universe and how old is the earth?

The greatest majority of scientists, whether they be astronomers, geologists, archaeologists, etc., believe that the earth is roughly 4.5 billion years old and that the universe is even older, at roughly 14 billion years old.

If we examine our King James Bible we would come to the conclusion that the earth and the universe, or the heavens, are roughly 6,000 years old.

This makes for a discrepancy of a factor of some 750,000 for the age of the earth and around 2 million for the age of the universe.
To think some Christians want to compromise!
It’s only off by about 1 million to 1!

There are several reasons why scientists disagree with the Bible by such a huge difference.
What’s amazing is that none of their theories would stand up to their scrutiny if they actually practiced science as science is meant to be practiced.

One reason so many scientists agree with each other about the inflated age of the universe and earth is because of their agreement based solely on agreeing without testing.

Most scientists believe the earth and universe are as old as they claim because they believe other scientists think the earth and universe are old.
They may think it does not seem to make sense at first, but surely all these other scientists can’t be wrong.

A geologist may believe the earth is a billion years old because astronomers believe the solar system is a billion years old.

At the same time, the astronomer believes that the solar system is a billion years old because geologists believe the earth is a billion years old.
There is a lot of pressure to just go with the status quo, even in science.
November 24, 1859, Charles Darwin published his Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection paper. Today is the 154th anniversary of that event.

The greatest majority of scientists who believe in a universe and earth that are over a billion years old, also believe in evolution.
Evolution requires huge estimates of age like this in order to make it appear it is correct.

If evolution were able to work on a 6,000 year time cycle, then we would be seeing transformations occurring before our very eyes.
Of course we don’t and do not even see it on the time scales evolutionists are forcing you to believe.

George Wald began as an atheist, but through his studies in science became aware there is a God. Sadly, I cannot say that I have ever read that he came to believe on Jesus for his salvation.

Naturalism states there is no God, that nature is all there is or ever was.
Just one reason that Christians should not buy into this Big Burp Theory.

Naturalism and the Big Bang Theory also contradict Scripture on the age and order of things.

The Big Bang Theory states the universe is nearly 14 billion years old.
The Bible states it is about 6,000 years old.
A difference of over 2 million to one!
How about the order of things?

Naturalism and the Big Bang theories teach that the stars were formed before the earth, fish came about before fruit trees, and the sun came about long before plants.

Let’s take a look at the order in Scripture!

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.
We see the earth bringing forth the fruit tree on day 3. The dry land called Earth and the Seas were also created on the 3rd day.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
Remember verse 15 here and remember all this creation was supernatural, not natural like naturalism would have you believe.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
The stars were created to give light upon the earth and they were created on the 4th day as we see here.
So the order so far is earth, fruit tree, stars.

20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
So the order so far is earth, fruit tree, stars, fish in the seas.

52. How Old? So the order is earth, fruit tree, stars, fish in the seas.
Naturalism gets the order completely wrong.
In other words, when man tries to get the order right, outside of God’s word, man gets it wrong.

An argument given by the believers in naturalism, the Big Bang Theory, is,
How is it possible for us to see the stars if light travels at a constant speed.
If we consider the distance light travels in one year, a light year, how is it we can see the light from starts over a million light years away?

A Christian who attempts to combine naturalism with God would be stumped by that question.
The simple answer is God created all of creation supernaturally, that is, outside of the natural realm.

If what science says is true, how indeed would we be seeing light from stars from that far away?
But God said he created the stars to give light upon the earth.
The entire universe and everything in it was created in 6 days according to Scripture.
The light was provided on day 4.

56. How Old?
In God’s creative work it did not take starlight millions of years to reach the earth.
God made it so the light from these stars, millions of miles away, was presented to the earth on day 4, 2 days before He created man, and 1 day after he created the fruit trees, and 1 day before he created the fish.

It takes faith to believe naturalism, since its principles have never been naturally proven.
It takes faith to believe God, since His principles have never been naturally proven.

58. How Old? Hebrews 11:1–3 (KJV)
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

The question you need to ask yourself is whether you will have faith in man, naturalism, or God, supernaturalism.

There are many other things we can look at to show God is correct and man is not, but we will need to wait for the next installment.
We will see how the math just does not allow for a universe that is billions of years old.

61. Faith In God
We saw from Hebrews 11:2 that the elders obtained a good report from God for having faith in God.
Men and women like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthae, David, Samuel, and the prophets all died believing the promise of God, but not having received it yet.

1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

64. Faith In God
Jesus died on the Cross at Calvary, was buried and rose again 3 days later, all according to Scripture.
We believe on Jesus and we have eternal life, reconciled back with the Father.
We will enjoy eternity with God in supernaturally created bodies by having faith in Him.

65. Faith In God
Are you going to be so arrogant, so prideful, that you would believe in a way like naturalism, created by man, and die in your sins, only to face the one who created everything for judgment?
Scripture has been proven over and over to be right, science continuously needs corrected, it is never complete.

66. Believe on Jesus and live eternally with God in perfect peace.
Faith In God
Please do not face God at the judgment on your own merits, your belief in naturalism.
You will be cast into an everlasting lake of fire created for the devil and his angels.
