1 Analysis and design of National Beverage Company(NBC)
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم An-Najah National University Faculty of Engineering Civil Engineering Department Analysis and design of National Beverage Company(NBC) Prepared by: Ahmed Radi Mousa hamayel Mazen maree Supervisor : Ibrahim Irman

2 Outline: Project description Design code How to find the live load
What structural system to select Why solid slab 3Dmodeling Design of slabs Design of column Mat foundation

3 Project description: NBC project is located in Ramallah city and it is used as warehouse, it consists of four stories .The first and second stories are 7.8 m high and the last two are 3.9 m. Each story has an area of 3000 m2 . The basement story used for coca cola production and other beverages the ground story is a warehouse for the packages and the first and second floors used as offices.

4 Design code: ACI (American concrete institute), is the building code adopted in this project for the design of structural elements. IBC 2006 for seismic design

5 How to find the live load?
To find live load take the dimension of coca cola product and the weight Make this value as a weight per cubic meter Find the storing height for this product Find live load per square meter

6 What structural system to select?
Take a test frame and analyze it using sap2000 v14 To find which the most economic structural system and analyze all the project with this system Frame to be tested In the stores:

7 Frame to be tested in the offices:

8 Analyze and design the frame in the stores as a waffle slab :and find the following data Volume of concrete =52.3cubic meter Weight of steel =5.52ton Analyze and design the frame in the office as a waffle slab :And find the following data Volume of concrete=30cubic meter Weight of steel=1.8ton Waffle slab:

9 Solid slab: Analyze and design the frame in the stores as a solid slab :and find the following data Volume of concrete =70.54cubic meter Weight of steel =4.9ton Analyze and design the frame in the office as a solid slab :And find the following data Volume of concrete=45cubic meter Weight of steel=3.1 ton

10 Ribbed slab: Analyze and design the frame in the stores as a ribbed slab :and find the following data Volume of concrete =50.73cubic meter Weight of steel =4.85ton Block=26.46 cubic meter Analyze and design the frame in the office as a ribbed slab :And find the following data Volume of concrete=41.3 Weight of steel=2.78ton Block=915 piece

11 Ribbed slab Solid slab Waffle slab Slab type office stores story 41.3 50.73 45 70.54 30 52.3 Volume of concrete 2.78 4.85 3.1 4.9 1.8 5.52 Weight of steel 915peice 26.46cm - block

12 Why solid slab? From the results the most economic material is waffle slab but the productivity of conduct formwork of waffle and ribbed slab is very height so the total work cost of solid slab is more economic so that the project designed as a solid slab

13 3D modeling: Divide the total project into three section to make it more regular shape for seismic design by making structural divide Do the 3-D design for the overall project as a solid slab

14 Project plane:

18 Design of slabs Using 3-d analysis by sap to analyze and design slabs in the three parts Find column strip and middle strip and find moment per meter to find area of steel

19 Deflection chick Maximum permissible deflection =52.92mm
From deflection shape from sap max. def.=38.33 ok

20

21 Stress-strain relationship

22 From previous frame Mu=1729kn/m
From sap Mu=172 % of error =0.16% ok

23 Equilibrium check From hand calculation maximum load=229691kn
From sap=229676kn % of error =0.06%

24 Design of column Using p-delta analysis because the length of column =7.8m and slender column may occurs For economical design use maximum steel ratio =0.01% Stirrup distribute according IBC-code for seismic design

25

26 Design of footing Why mat foundation: Because the basement floor used to carry high load and machine it necessary to make a another slab for machine because of it and for economy use mat foundation

27 Design of mat foundation
The same as two way solid slab

28 Mat foundation

29 Thank you
