3 What National Symbol means?
National symbols intend to unite people by creating visual, verbal, or iconic representations of the national people, values, goals, or history. Why are National Symbols important? These symbols are designed to be inclusive and representative of all the people of the national community. 2/4 Source:

6 The flag The Dominican flag is the soul of our country who crosses the sky of freedom. The flag was designed by Juan Pablo Duarte, which clearly defined her in the pledge of Trinity. The father of the country, initially drew a white cross on the Haitian flag. Later became the present, divided into four quarters with the colors arranged in angles contrasting with the blue top left and bottom right. 1/3 Source:

Coat of Arms Its white color reminds us that peace and unity should prevail among all Dominican people.. The blue color express our ideals of freedom and progress and that God protects the Dominican nation. 2/3

8 The flag The first flag was embroidered by Concepción Bona and Maria Trinidad Sanchez. It was hoisted for the first time on February 27, 1844 in the Puerta del Conde. 3/3 Source:

9 The Coat of Arms 'The coat of arms is a symbol that represents the sovereignty of the Dominican nation' The Dominican coat of arms is the emblem which, alone or together with the flag represents the state free, independent and sovereign in our country. The Dominican coat of arms has the same colors as the national flag and are arranged in the same way. 1/2 Source:

12 Dominican National Anthem
Reyes believed that when the Dominicans have a hymn to sing with feeling and love, they would claim in his soul the sentiment of the country, and they will be absolutely sure to be Dominicans forever. It was not until 30 May 1934 when the president of the Dominican Republic, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina, by Law number 700, stated it as official. 2/3 Rafael L. Trujillo Source:
