19 Understanding Product Requirements
Don’t assume that a product made for other markets will meet U.S. Requirements. Requirements for U.S. Carriers are well-defined and specific  Largely based on Telcordia “Generic Requirements” but sometimes they may deviate in subtle ways. There are HUNDREDS of “Generic Requirements” documents and it is challenging to find the specific requirements for a given product or application! Correlation with a specific GR is not always so straight forward Product requirements may come from more than one GR Proper interpretation of GR criteria is critical Both Suppliers & Carriers assist Telcordia in developing and have access to these “Generic Requirements” Lower you risks significantly by gaining detailed knowledge on the “Generic Requirements” used by YOUR customers!
