3. THE POLAR COMPANY HISTORY
The history of the Polar Company began in 1992 when several students of the Moscow Aviation Institute decided to start their own production of television sets.
In 1994 experts of the Polar Technology Bureau gained enough experience to develop and introduce their first range of TVs under trade mark POLAR.
In 1996 some original innovations of POLAR TV sets have been patented.
A pivotal point in the Polar Company's development was the financial downfall in Russia in August Polar realized the opportunity of weak competition and started to strengthen its dealership network all over Russia.
In 2003 the Polar Company began producing flat-screen TV sets with elite exterior design, televisions with 72 cm screens, a new generation of DVD players and home cinemas. The total number of the CRT televisions POLAR produced by the Company surpassed 500,000 items. It also started producing different types of home appliances such as vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens under trade mark Polar Home. In 2003 the Company established modern well-equipped factory “Televolna” in Kaliningrad region.
In 2004 The Company started exporting its products to Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
In 2005 the Polar Company introduced first Russian-developed LCD TVs (Polar 15”, 20”, 26”, 32”).
In 2008 the Polar Company started to produced first Russian-developed DVB-C receiver
In 2009 the Polar Company started to produced first Russian-developed DVB-T receiver

4. “TELEVOLNA” HISTORY
Chernyakhovsk - the second-largest town in the Kaliningrad region with population appr people. Chernyakhovsk is the crossroads of railways (to Kaliningrad, Klaipeda, Kaunas etc.) and highways. Chernyakhovsk is located near the large sea port Klaipeda.
POLAR Company has establish its factory “Televolna” in Chernyakhovsk in January “Televolna” is powerful modern factory having full cycle of audio, video and home appliances production.

5. “TELEVOLNA” PRODUCTION CYCLE
“Televolna” production cycle includes the following technological stages:
automatic packing of printed circuit boards with electronic components;
soldering of printed circuit boards on an imported conveyer with high degree of reliability;
casting and painting of plastic bodies;
production of polyfoam bushes;
assembly of products;
computer-assisted checking and adjustment of units, parts and finished products;
marking of finished products;
diversified examination and testing of each piece of appliance.
Four lines are intended for assembly of CRT TVs and LCD TVs, DVD-players, DVB receivers. microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners.
Depending on demand the factory works in 1, 2 or 3 eight-hour working shifts (the latter case means round-the-clock mode). Thus the total staff of the factory varies from 600 up to 1000 people.
The total investments of Polar Company in “Televolna” were US$10 million since 2003.

7. EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATION
The industrial park of “Televolna” was equipped from the very beginning. During first three months factory premises have been equipped by the necessary equipment of firms Philips, Minolta, Soltec, Siemens. The assembly lines made by Bosch, LG, NMA and Universal were established. Also thermoplast automatic devices LG with effort from 140 up to 1300 tons were establish.
The “Televolna” factory are in the process of certification under standard ISO 9001.

Since 2003 the quality of “Televolna” services was estimated by brands well-known in Russian market, among them Daewoo, Hyundai, Lentel, Watson. (The last TM is private label of retail chain “METRO”.) In Russian retail you can find models of listed brands with label “Made by “Televolna”.
