This powerpoint StaIR was created specifically to address my 2nd grade class. It will be used in conjunction with class teaching as a reinforcement to already taught lessons. I will also be using this program to address absent students and those who need extra time with the subject. Students that have reading difficulties can be partnered to share reading responsibilities, however, all students that participate in math class typically don’t have reading difficulties (or they would be in resource room). This StaIR covers this benchmark. Mathematics/Elementary/Strand IV/Content Standard 1/Benchmark 2 I am expecting students to learn the basic understanding of base 10, place value system

6 What should you know by the end of this program?
Put it to the Test! What should you know by the end of this program? a. Place value. The child is sent to the beginning of the lesson for an incorrect answer only on this slide. My reasoning is that the information quizzed should be review and I don’t want the child to get hung up on the information they should already know. I am not presenting it in a different way in this instance, because this should be previous knowledge. If the child still does not understand this information they may still be successful at completing this stair successfully from learning the new information. b. The value of your house. c. What place to put your dirty laundry.

Quiz Can a number have 5 digits? YES NO In this quiz slide the child needs to use higher level thinking with his or her answer. The answer to this quiz question was not given, it was only implied. If the child gets the question wrong the re-teaching slides includes an extra slide with more information that does not require deductive reasoning.
